Hello everyone,

Last week I started building my to go bags. I have added a few more items to make my bags more complete for my husband and I.

I should add at this time my disclaimer to let you know that "I am in no way a professional person pertaining to preparedness or am I an expert." I am hoping like me that you would want to be prepared in case of emergency.

This week I will start to put food away and hopefully have some way of heating my food with no electricity I can only expect to cook my food on a grill with charcoal or wood. Many backwoods campers maybe a little bit more suited for this. But if you have never been camping or out in the wilderness it may be your first time preparing an open fire. It is not that difficult. Gather up some small twigs and dry leaves to start with then add more pieces of wood, if you don't have any charcoal.

This is where you need to have your supply of matches or lighter. You can purchase a lighter anywhere and you should have one in your to go bag.

Portable grills are great and can be compact and easy to set up. I have used a hibachi in the past and they work great. But a small grill like this works just as well.

Always remember never use charcoal or wood in a closed area. Always have good ventilation. we do not need anyone getting carbon poisoning.

They have some great emergency food already packaged and ready for shipment.
What I like about these is that you have 12 meals ready to go and it does come with a heater. I will also put in some rice, noodles. and most likely some energy bars.

OK that's it for this week. I look forward to meeting up again next week where I will start to discuss Shelter.
